Data Protection Officer, permanent vacancy

Hays are currently recruiting for a Data Protection Officer to join our Public Sector client to provide direction, support and advice to the Authority, Principal Officers and Heads of Department in relation to their data protection responsibilities.

The role is full-time on site in Carmarthenshire during the 6-month probationary period, with a hybrid working policy offering 1-2 days working from home each week.

We are looking for a Data Protection Officer with experience in the following areas;
-Level 4 or 5 standard of education (e.g Certificate/Diploma of HE of HNDs) or equivalent
-Degree or equivalent qualification in higher Law or another relevant experience (e.g Data Protection Law / Information Law / Information Governance / GDPR Practitioner)
-Expert knowledge of the Data Protection Legislation
-Experience of conducting investigations relating to data breaches whilst acknowledging and considering the relevant HR Policies
-Data protection compliance
-Working with Data Protection in the Public Sector
-Strong communication skills (Welsh speaking is desirable)
